Robby Hauck makes Jerry Rice Award watch list

Montana redshirt freshman safety Robby Hauck is one of 15 named to the first round of the STATS FCS Jerry Rice Award watch list released on Thursday.

Bacaj-PSU-at-Montana-Robby-Hauck-hurdleHauck has tallied 58 total tackles in six games so far this season, including one tackle for loss and one pass breakup. The son of Montana’s head coach, Hauck transfered to Montana from Northern Arizona this past offseason.

The Jerry Rice Award is given annually to the top freshman player in the FCS.

Hauck is one of three from the Big Sky Conference to make the preliminary watch list. He is joined by Weber State running back and punt returner Josh Davis and UC Davis running back Ulonzo Gilliam.

Previous winners include former Eastern Washington wide receiver Cooper Kupp and Northern Arizona quarterback Case Cookus.

A winner will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season.
