Sentinel grad Peppenger transfers to UM

Former Missoulian Gabe Peppenger will fulfill his dream of playing Grizzly football after announcing his intent to transfer to the University of Montana beginning this fall.

Gabe-Peppenger-Jered-Padmos-holding-Idaho-State-1000x743Despite earning all-state honors as both a junior and senior at Sentinel, the kicker received no offers from former Montana head coach Bob Stitt; instead, he joined Montana State as a preferred walk-on.

After two seasons serving as the Bobcats’ primary placekicker and kickoff specialist, Peppenger announced this week he will return home.

It remains unknown whether he will take up a walk-on or scholarship position with Montana – a squad that already lists juniors Brandon Purdy and Timmy Semenza as kickers. If it’s the former, he could play starting with the Sept. 1 season opener versus Northern Iowa; if on scholarship, he’ll likely have to sit out the season as per NCAA transfer rules.
