Sneed earns Big Sky POW honors
Montana Grizzlies quarterback Dalton Sneed has been named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for his work dismantling the Sacramento State defense on Saturday.
But wasn’t his arm or completion ratio that earned him the honors, nor did it have to do with touchdown passes. Instead, it was Sneed’s prowess in the running game that cinched his spot atop the league’s leaderboard.
With 206 yards on the ground, Sneed set a new program record for rushing yards by a quarterback. His statline in the win also includes three rushing touchdowns plus an additional 234 yards and touchdown through the air. That amounts to 440 total yards, cementing him atop the league in total offense this season – and third in all of FCS football.
The nod makes three times in four weeks that a Griz player has won ROOT SPORTS Player of the Week honors – defensive player Dante Olson having picked up back-to-back awards to open the season.
Sneed received an honorable mention for national FCS Player of the Week by College Sports Performance Awards.
