Skyline Sports is reporting Kent Baer, who most recently served as defensive coordinator at UNLV, is leading candidates for the same position for the Griz.

Before working at UNLV, the 66-year-old called defenses at Idaho, Cal, Arizona State, Stanford, Notre Dame, Washington, San Jose State and Colorado.

A formal announcement is expected to be finalized before the next round of official recruiting visits in mid-January.

Newly hired head coach Bobby Hauck formally announced the hiring of former Montana assistant Timm Rosenbach as offensive coordinator on Wednesday. He confirmed the retention of three assistants in December: Offensive line coach Chad Germer, recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Justin Green, and safeties coach Shann Shillinger.

Skyline Sports is also reporting Humboldt State defensive coordinator Barry Sacks has accepted a job as a defensive assistant on Hauck’s staff, and former Grizzly assistant Brent Pease is rumored to be returning as an offensive assistant.
