CHICAGO – Sept. 9, 2019 – The Big Sky Conference is building off one of its stronger seasons with an even bigger statement in the early season STATS FCS Top 25. Five of the 13 teams in the largest FCS conference held spots in the national media poll Monday, including a whopping four in the top 10. Eastern Washington, last year’s FCS runner-up, maintained its No. 4 ranking and was followed by the conference’s other two 2018 tri-champs and national quarterfinalists, No. 5 UC Davis and No. 6 Weber State. MISSOULA, Montana — The Grizzlies appeared shaken following a gruesome injury suffered by Gavin Crow covering a kickoff. Once Montana overcame any shock, the host Griz avalanched North Alabama in a game that went from slugfest to blowout in the blink of an eye. North Alabama quarterback Christian Lopez hit big-play threat Cortez Hall for a 74-yard touchdown on the drive following a lower leg injury suffered by Crow, a talented junior safety from UM, about 10 minutes into Montana’s home opener. Griz add defensive depth with transfers Vaohea and Tolliver

By ERIC TABER Montana sports information Montana Football head coach Bobby Hauck has again bolstered the Grizzlies’ defense this summer with the additions of transfers Soane Vaohea, a linebacker from Merced Junior College, and cornerback Mykal Tolliver from the University of Hawaii. This pair of athletes have accepted scholarships to the University of Montana. Vaohea is currently enrolled and has joined the team for summer workouts.
