HOMECOMING: Robby Hauck returns to his roots with the Griz

As an elementary school-age boy, Robby Hauck would stand on the stairs at the end of his family’s row in Section 124 of Washington-Grizzly Stadium to ensure his view of his team would be perfect.

Robby-Hauck-close-upAnyone who listened would hear the boy talking to no one in particular – sharing analysis, commentary and sometimes even his suggestions as his dad, Bobby Hauck, coached the Montana Grizzlies football team through some of its most successful seasons.

When he was 12, his dad took a coaching job at UNLV and young Robby left his beloved Montana team behind. In December 2017, the older Hauck made his triumphant return to Missoula; the son followed the very next month.

Already, the Northern Arizona transfer has rounded into one of the most fearless and productive safeties in the leagues – second total tackles only to teammate Dante Olson.

“This season has truly been a dream come true,” Robby said during his press conference debut on Monday. “I’ve had so much fun. I’ve never had an experience like this before and I’m so happy I got to play this year.”
