Griz jump to No. 14 in media poll

The Montana Grizzlies made a double-digit climb to land at No. 14 in this week’s STATS FCS Media Poll after upsetting Northern Iowa in opening weekend Saturday.

Dante-Olson-celebrates-sackMontana made the leap from No. 24 after beating the Panthers 26-23 and is now the third of four Big Sky Conference teams represented in the Top 25.

Eastern Washington moved to No. 6 after beating Central Washington, 58-13; Weber State slid to No. 10 after falling to Utah, 41-10; and Northern Arizona rounds out the four-set at No. 18 after dismantling UTEP, 30-10.

Montana is now ranked No. 16 in the AFCA FCS Coaches’ Poll after starting the preseason at No. 25.

The Grizzlies are now 1-0 on the season. They’ll look to improve upon that with another home outing this Saturday versus Drake.

Outside the Big Sky, North Dakota held fast to the top slot after dominating Cal Poly, 49-3, on Saturday.
