Sac State CB coach headed to Montana

New Montana football head coach Bobby Hauck moved one step closer to completing his staff with the hiring of Sacramento State cornerbacks coach C.J. Cox.

(Sacramento State/Jessica Vernone)Though no official announcement has been made, Cox changed his Twitter profile Wednesday to reflect his move to Montana and Skyline Sports was able to confirm the pending hire through a second source.

The Garland, Texas, native played under Hauck at UNLV from 2010-2012 and spent the following two seasons as graduate assistant on Hauck’s staff.

Cox continued on at UNLV through 2016 as graduate assistant and later as recruiting coordinator and director of player personnel despite Hauck’s departure to San Diego State; and spent all of last season at Sac State under Big Sky Conference co-Coach of the Year Jody Sears.

The hiring – coupled with the additions of Brent Pease, barry Sacks and Kent Baer last week – leaves just the tight ends coach position unfilled at Montana.
